After opening the country, Western modern technologies were come into Japan. Nagasaki was also the front line. The another World Heritage Site was the Sites of Japan’s Meiji Industrial Revolution: Iron and Steel, Shipbuilding and Coal Mining, which including Hashima, known as Gunship island, seen in the James Bond movie "Skyfall".

The video of the spouting of the whale in Nagasaki Okunchi festival

The shop name is “iris” in Japanese. The name has likely come from the irises planted in the moats around Omura castle. Nagasaki prefecture has several ports for the fisherman and the amount of landing seafood were No.2 in Japan. The seafood and seafood products were specialty in this prefecture.

Before leaving Nagasaki, I recommend you to have a glass or beer and several Sashimi, seafood soup or Sushi in this restaurant. You also taste the Japanese Sake (rice wine) or Shochu (clear liquor) at this restaurant. The black fishes were very nice on the season with Shochu with warm water (Oyuwari お湯割り).

On my visiting, I had whale and Sashimi with rice and soup. The whale had been the signature special products in Nagasaki. For the almost all western country person, Whales were just Mammalia with natural resource of whale oil. Till end of World war II, the whale oil was the major oil resource for the human society. For the Japanese society in Edo era, the whale was one of the sources of Proteins. In modern ages, the whale was oil resource and food for the Japanese life style. The whale was a deity in the local community, giving food and some materials from born or teeth to the village. These days, the people in Nagasaki had nostalgia to the whales. The most popular whale was blue whale (Balaenoptera musculus) which was known as the king of the whale meats.

The sea shepherd, like the pie name, has no background of the culture as the friend of whale. Their progenitor has chase about the hip of whale to get only oil and money. They had no qualifications to say about the culture.

Kushi-katsu (串カツ) is one of the popular foods in Osaka. Kushi means the stick and katsu is fried food covered with bread powder, like Ton-katsu (Fried pork meat with bread powder). Ingredients which were skewered with bamboo sticks were fried with oil and raad. You can choose ingredients from meat to vegetable to enjoy the seasonal selection of the Kushi-katsu.

In Osaka, there are a lot of stands bar of Kushi-katsu. You will find that style stands in some station or food court area. You can have huge variation from the menu. When you visit there, you must take care about the important rule, as Once dip in the sauce. The rule is come from the hygiene reasons.

This Kushi-no-Bou has the several restaurants in Tokyo area. They serve luxury but familiar style of Kushi-katsu at their stands. The Kushi-katsu served in this stand were arranged as the course randomly. The food from Kansai (関西 West side of the border control in Ausaka) was very different from that of Tokyo area (Kanto 関東 means East side from the border control in Ausaka).

One flew south, Atlanta airport, Georgia, United states of America

No comments :
The airport is generally desert of the delicious foods. We will find very typical fast food chain shops or very small food shop in the airports. The Gordon Ramsay in Heathrow terminal 5 or Kushikatsu on the Edo koji (江戸小路) in Tokyo Haneda is several exceptional example. On my visiting Atlanta, I found the other example.

The Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International airport is one of the largest airport in the world. Eight million passenger flied from or to this airport, 75 thousand operations of airliner used this airport.

This restaurant and bar, One flew south, was located in the terminal E where has the international flight to all over the world. In One flew south, you can taste what food is modern in Southern United States.
All food on the menu showed some Japanese essence on the letters. I was very surprised at each dishes. The tastes of all dishes are very modern American. According to the restaurant website, they said "‘Southernational’- Cuisine inspired by world travels; prepared largely with high quality, fresh, local ingredients." But the basis of the cuisine is Japanese sushi. I was very happy to enjoy some wine from the States and ingredient from the States. On this journey, I have just started to find what is the real American (like the campaign of the GREAT britain 2015).

At the bar counter, the staff will serve various craft beers, American wines or cocktails.

This time, I chose scallops.
