Taichiri, Taiyoshi hyakuban, Tobita shinchi (鯛よし 百番 大阪), Osaka, Japan
Tobita Shinchi area is a prostitution quater in Osaka city. This area was established in early 1900s and kept the Old Shunga world. The classical style buildings were stand along the streets. Each buildings has wide entrace combined with show window and called as Ryotei where the staff will serve some foods and alcohol beverage. There were a old lady keeping the shop and a young lady who will comfort customer, in each shop. The blight white light illuminated the two ladies in the shops. The young ladies had been made up as a doll and shined with red to pink light. The customers were only male and the service side were only female. The border amoung shop and street showed the complete gender difference in this area; inside are female and outside is male. The female customer had not been able to walk around this area. The Tai-yoshi was located in this area.
The building of Tai-yoshi hyakuban was classical Ryotei style. This restaurant was the real restaurant where serve some fish dishes without some comfort service. The interior was motive as Ryu-guu palace (palace in the ocean in "Urashima taro" popular nursery tale). The wooden building was decorated with some paints and wood work. The luxury but old fashioned atmosphere reminded us the completely separated world from the other place of Osaka. The atmosphere and building was very lovely.

The service was also the classical style as Ryotei. Customers were lead to the tatami rooms. All beverages were served in the glass bottles.
On this visiting, we had tai chiri (hot pot of sea bream). The soup was getting better taste, added the bones or meats of sea bream and vegetable.

The rare sophisticated style of Takoyaki in Osaka
I had never imagined about Takoyaki without the brown
Takoyaki sauce. I was wondering in front of the stand of Takohachi, if the Takoyaki
without sauce will be delicious or not.
The beginning of meeting Takohachi was the Barman whispering
about his recommendation. He make sure that I was come from Tokyo and I
imagined as the normal Taokoyaki in Osaka. He suggested me to visit the
Takoyaki stand of Takohachi, three minute distance from the Bar.
On my visiting to Takohachi, I ordered Takoyaki as normal.
The unfriendly staff react with seeing an alien who spoke Japanese. The smell
coming from the stand was very lovely with braising soy sauce and baked
flowers. He quietly handed me a box filled with eight balls of Takoyaki.
I rushed back to the park in front of the Bar and opened the
box of Takoyaki. The lovely smell as the front of the stand had come to my
nose. The colour of the ball was right brown as tanned under the sun. The soft
texture and soy sauce base taste was lovely. The tenkasu (crunchy bits of fried
dough from Tempura) gave strength or body into the tastes. This was the first
time to have the soy sauce based Takoyaki.
This Takohachi is the chain stores around Osaka area. I
highly recommend you to visit to have a little bit different taste of Takoyaki.

Takoyaki is
the famous first food in Japan, and also the most important soul food for the
people in Osaka. On this visiting to Osaka, I found the most delicious Takoyaki
in Osaka.
Takoyaki is
the ball like pancake including the chopped octopus, pickled ginger, Agetama (あげ玉 flied
flower) and Japanese reek. In Osaka, that is a rumour, almost all family or
house has one Takoyaki maker in their home. People come from or live in Osaka
has some important opinion to make Takoyaki for each. The method to cook
Takoyaki is very simple but might be very difficult to make some delicious
ones. And there are some favourite styles for Japanese or the Osaka as the
crispy or soft outside, the octopus size or the Takoyaki base taste.
The staffs made Takoyaki with beautiful and speedy movement.
The
Takoyaki in Hanadako was very lovely. The soft skin like mashumaro, the large
chopped octopus, soft and creamy inclusion and classical Wooster source and
scattered dried tuna are nicely balanced and harmonized in our mouth. The soft
skin was limited till the strength we can hold with chopsticks. The texture of
the skin was very nice, very small bubbles were including in the dough and made very
soft and shape the beautiful ball on the tray. The chopped octopuses are
de-frozen but the size is one of the important parts in Takoyaki for the Osaka.
You can drink a cup of beer and dose takoyaki.

This
Hanadako, Takoyaki stand is located in the food court area near Osaka Station. You will
find very long queue in front of the stand. There are a lot of local food
stands, small restaurants or bars in this food court, named
Shin-Umeda-Shokudo-gai(新梅田食道街). This local area was crowded with businessmen,
tourist or local people in all day. The food court is located under the railway
guard and in front of the Midosuji gate at the Osaka station.
The staffs
are professional in making Takoyaki. They will not be able to speak English.
