The Final Flight of Cathay Pacific Boeing 747-400 on 1st Oct

On the 1st October 2016, Cathay Pacific Boeing 747-400 was retired. The final flight was very festive and heartwarming atmosphere, presented by Cathay Pacific skilful cabin crews. I had a very happy travel with Japanese bloggers Tep-san and Ebichang on this final flight.

the Queen of Sky, Boeing 747-400, Jumbo jetliner

The beautiful ships of Cathay Pacific have retired form the commercial routes. The Boeing 747-400 was a memorable air craft of the sky. The double decker style of front and smart nose were art of ‎modern industrial design. Four engines gave us the sense of the safety of air travel.
All airplane will be retired with some reasons as age of aircraft, financial factor of operating company or mismatched market. The 747-400, known as the Jumbo jetliner were very famous aircraft in the world. In Japan, we can see them as the airplane belonging to foreign airlines, Thai airways, China airlines and Lufthansa (B747-8i).

Boeing 747-400 and Cathay Pacific

The former flagship of Cathay Pacific, Boeing 747-400, was  the last aircraft of Britishness in Hong Kong. The company of Cathay Pacific was developed with series of ‎Boeing 747 known Jumbo jet liner, as -200B and -400. Four Rolls Royce engines sound were passing over the British owned Kowloon side of  Hong Kong on approaching to Kaitak airport. The sound was one of the symbols of the old Hong Kong. The high pitch sound and fat shape of Rolls Royce engines reminded us the Cathay Pacific had been a British commercial airline company.

‎I have luckily got the tickets of the final flight from Tokyo Haneda to Hong Kong on First class cabin on the 1st October, 2016. The blog described by Lucky gave us the intelligence of the Cathay Pacific Boeing 747-400 final flight. I had the First class ticket with Ebichang, who was a Japanese alfa blogger in Airline blog.

First class cabin of final flight of CX Boeing 747-400

I had a seat 4D of the first class cabin. The ground hostess has assigned us 4D and 4A, one of the best seats of the tow person company. From the seat, I had the lovely view of the nose interior which was special view of double decker of Boeing 747-400. The seat was luxury full-flat seat as the long haul route airliner. Those have also the dinning facility with large table and a pair of seats for comany passengers.

On this final flight, the meal courses were as the normal commercial flight between Tokyo Haneda to Hong Kong. Chinese cuisine, Japanese full course or Western courses were available as usual. ‎We had Chinese courses with the sound of Rolls Royce engines and special atmosphere of the first class cabin.

The tour of crew rest

On this air craft, the cabin crew show us the crew rest, restricted ‎space for cabin crews. Small flat bed were lain above the passenger cabin as the residence of the hospital for medical staff.

The memorable flight of Cathay Pacific Boeing 747-400 final flight

The atmosphere of first class cabin‎ was very relaxed and comfortable to remember and remind our memories on the Boeing 747 aircrafts. The cabin was restricted for the first class passenger and press member. The inflight service manager has controled the first class cabin for the first class passengers.

Seolleongtang, Korean breakfast in Korean town of Akasaka, Ichiryu, Akasaka, Tokyo

No comments :

Ichiryu, Korean restaurant in Akasaka

Akasaka has a small Korean town street. There are a lot of Korean restaurants produced by Korean immigrants. In Korean peninsula, a lot of restaurants were commonly serving the dishes using the same soup stock type as degikupab using pig soup stock or Seolleongtang with beef soup stock. Ichiryu, a restaurant which Kim Hajime has established, has the sorlontan as the signature dish.

An old lady and the restaurant

It was a heavy rain morning on holiday. The restaurant in the early morning, this restaurant is open 24/7, showed Korean style loose atmosphere. Small television speak unnecessary programs as common morning programs in Japan, containing local news as dogs of celebrity or recommended shops by movie star. Ajuma, old lady Korean manager of this restaurant, watched the programs.

Kimchi and side dishes. The texture of Kimchi is lovely.

Kimchi and Ebichang

The staffs took my order. I had Seolleongtang on that morning. As the common Korean restaurant, a lot of small dishes were served at first. Kimchi was very nice quality. The Umami and chili taste of Kochujan were nicely pickled. According to the Ebichang theory, the taste of Kimchi is very important part of Korean food restaurant, to show the heart of manager what the Korean food is (Ebichang is a koryophile of my friends. He had huge knowledge of cultural anthropology of Korean peninsula).

Seolleongtang and Ichiryu

Seolleongtang

The Seolleongtang of Ichiryu has very nice taste of soup stock. The soup was sophisticated Umami taste of classical Korean food. The customers were able to decided the amount of salt to add to the soup. The salt degree is very important part of this soup. The marriage of mild beef soup stock taste and small amount of salt will show smooth texture of the soup.
The usual Korean food manner when eating a set menu is mixture of all ingredients served in the bowl. The dirty presentation made me disappointed. And I have made it a rule that rice and several ingredients as the dry fishes or pickled fishes to add Umami tastes in the dish.

The dinner course, Kayanoya (茅乃舎 レストラン), Fukuoka

No comments :
Dashi is the basis and necessity of Japanese foods. Japanese foods contain the Umami taste in itself. This Dashi taste which has rich of Umami was an identity in Japanese foods. When we talk about Japanese foods, we must remind the taste or flavour of the dishes. The Dashi taste is the most important part in Japanese foods as the butter in the French.

Kanoya is a bland company producing a high-end food from Fukuoka, Western island Kyushu. Kanoya basically was run as a Dashi producer as several variation of blended Dashi. They had developed their business as the “taste and flavour company” which produce various condiments or foods. The origin of this company was a bag of Dashi. This pack was used like as the tea bag, dipped in hot water and use a thick essence for the daily foods.

The restaurant, an icon of Kayanoya is dining facility, is located in the countryside of Fukuoka. The exterior and interior was traditional farmer’s house. This house picture was printed on their products. Kaya-buki roof (thatched roof) is the bland icon of Kayanoya.

The dinner courses were cooked with the local ingredients and products from Kayanoya; the dressing sauce of salad, Dashi soup for the pots, sauce for Sashimi (not only say sauce). The course was formed six dishes as the traditional Japanese style full course. All dishes were designed as the modern Japanese style.

The course was formed, Starter, Vegetable soup (soup from the lands), Mukouduke (Sashimi), seasonal dish from the kitchen, small dish of grandmother from Nagano (traditional style foods), Main course (choice from the lists) and dessert. The course was started with the sweet light liquor.

The simple and comfortable place for praying

Passing through Kurosaki Catholic church and Shitsu Catholic church to Saikai city, there is a small but nice church where does not have resident bishop, Ono Catholic Church. This Church is located on the small hill covered with a lot of plants. From Ono Catholic Church, you will have beautiful view of Sumo Nada (Shape like Sumo wresting) and East China sea.
The church is a house of one storey and stone arranged wall and Kawara bricked roof. The room is small as 6.1m width and 11.8m depth. The window had arch and was smaller than that in Japan. The design of the Ono church was Japanese-French. This church was designed and established by Bishop de Rotz who was mainly live in Shitsu area, on 1893. On the age, the import bricks from France were very expensive. He had chosen the stone which were produced in this area. The stone was black and green basalt stone. The stones were arranged with mortal.

The green stones wall showed very simple and country side style of the church
The reservation by phone call or website is necessary. Please contact to the information centre by phone.

Lovely Scottish flight above the Scotland, BE6899, EDI-KOI

No comments :
The flights in Scotland were traditionally lovely local routes. The commuter flights were necessity of the local Scottish people and the tourist. I have flied to Islay from Glasgow. This time, I have use the longer route Edinburgh to Kirkwall.

The fleet was Saab340 made in  Sweeden. The  classical but signature fleet was flying around the Scotland, from cities to islands above Highland, from islands to cities. The configuration of the fleet was 1-2 seats. The hat rack has very small space, not for the cabin bag for the airbus commercial fleet.

As the British commercial airline company, Flybe, operated by Logan air which is the commuter airline company in Scotland, served the passengers a cup of hot drink and some sweets during the flight. On my flight from Edinburgh to Kirkwall. I had a cup of tea with milk and chocolate coated wafers. The tea with milk was served as the traditional British tastes and show the nice match with sweet chocolate.

The oldest building of church in Japan, Oura Cathedral, Nagasaki city, Japan [The pilgrimage tour around Nagasaki]

No comments :

The Oura Cathedral was the oldest building of church in Japan. This church was built in Oura, Nagasaki after the opening on 1854 AD. There were several churches in port of Yokohama which was one of the opened ports. This had been the first church in Nagasaki and established on1865 AD. The church was located in the foreign settlement formed under Edo era in South Eastern part of Nagasaki. The building is National treasure of Japan.

Beside view of Oura Cathedral. The rosette window was the oldest part of this church which had placed at the front in original church
The building is small but lovely French Gothic style. On the front face, there was the sign “Tenshudo” meaning Cathedral above the entrance. This church had also re-built and extension after 1865 AD. There was one tower in the centre. White wall and green sky blue show the French design style. The pillars were stand and crossed on the roof with the embossed cross junction. The old small sthend glass windows were placed on the each side. The contrast of brown pillars and white walls were show European taste. The roof was covered with Japanese style tiles. The rose window on the right side from the entrance was the original rose window of the first version.

The inside of the church. On the left side, the statue of Maria is one of the important part of this church. In front of this statue, the historical event of "discovery of the Christian in Nagasaki" had happened.
The "discovery of the Christian in Nagasaki" had been the mile stone event on the long Catholic church history.
The front view of the Oura Cathedral. The pine tree show the exotic atmosphere of this church.
There is a modern Oura Catholic church located on the opposite side of this cathedral. The red brick exterior shows beautiful contrast with Oura Cathedral.

The Twenty Six Martyrs Museum, Mishawaka, Nagasaki, Japan [The pilgrimage tour around Nagasaki]

No comments :

The place we should think about the Spanish colonization through the modern ages.

The first meeting to Christian in Japan

When I visited to Nishizaka, it was rainy day. Though the spring will be changed to early summer, it was cold and wet day in May. Nishizaka is a small hill in front of the main station of Nagasaki. Pedestrians walked up to the hill to get the museum and small church to pray the twentysix martyrs on Momoyama era.

The history of Martyrs in Nagasaki

This museum and church was officially assigned as the pilgrimage spot in Nagasaki. The martyrdom in Nagasaki had happened on 1597 under the Toyotomi government in Momoyama era. The international trade between European countries and Japan had rapidly developed the past 30 years. On 1596, minor trouble between Portuguese and Spanish and between the society of Jesuit and Order of Friars Minor occurred the Saint Phillipe case. The Japanese Slave trade had become the trigger of this historical event. The governor, Hideyoshi Toyotomi had announced the Statement of Expulsion of Christian padre on 1587. But the statement had been watered down, because the Japanese society had emphasized the importance and benefit of the international trade instead of the Christian. After Saint Phillipe case which the Spanish crews remark about the expansion of the colony of Spain with the Catholic Church, which might have never recognized the truth of event, expulsion had developed to the martyrdom. From the view point of the Japanese government, the Catholic Church and countries which expanded their territories with unethical means had seemed the crisis.
The twenty five martyrs had brought from Osaka and Kyoto to Nagasaki. The journey was cold mid-winter season. Twenty Japanese, four Spanish, one Mexican and one Portuguese had been sentence to a punishment at Nishizaka, Nagasaki.

All countries which had been colonized by Spain and Portugal, Philippines, Cuba, South American countries or several African countries, were still under the difficulty of the development.
