Banana cue (Camote-cue), street foods in Manila, Philippines
The street sweets in Manila
In Manila, there were various snacks sold on the street.
Sometimes, the foreign tourists might be far from the local rural area. I am
writing about the banana cue as the streets sweet in Manila.
the banana que stand
Banana is the most major agricultural products in
Philippines. Banana from Philippines were very common fruits in Japan.
The banana cue is popular street food to Filipino but un-familiar
to foreigners. These sweets were normally sold at the stands on the local
streets.

The lady at the stand has made the cue. She fried the banana
and sprinkled it with brown sugar. The recipe was very simple.
Frying the Bananas
The taste is unsophisticated, sweet and a little bit oily, real
fried banana. But we can briefly see the local street life.

Deep fried Fish balls, street food in manila, Philippines
The street snack in Manila
The fried fish balls were also popular street food in
Manila. The fish ball was like Kamaboko or Chikuwa in Japan which fish paste (Surimi)
were shaped like ball or cakes. These ingredients were produced as preserved
foods. The similar ingredients were seen in the East Asian countries as Japan, Taiwan,
Mainland China or Philippines. The Chinese immigrants might have brought from the custom making the fish paste from the their home country.
In these days, the fish paste became very popular food with
the frozen technology. We can easily store the paste in the refrigerators. And
we have various cooking methods of this ingredients, fry, boil, cook or roast.
Each method has different textures.
fried fish ball
At the stands, we can enjoy the fried fish ball. In this
country, Philippines, the people prefer the sweet taste in this fish ball. They
dipped the ball into the sweet chili sauce and bite it.
I have never found this type of food at the food court in
Manila. This was also very local snacks in Manila.

Short haul Japan Airlines Business class (JAL Sky Suite 767) from Tokyo to Manila
The worst business class services on the aeroplane in developed countries
The Japan airlines had proud of the long history and nice quality of the Japanese style service. On this visiting to Manila, I must choose Japan airline. The aircraft was the Boeing 767-300ER which was the common aircraft for the short to middle haul international flights from Japan as Manila, Saigon, Hanoi, Bangkok, Singapore or Hong Kong.
The business class seat was the new Sky Suite 767 style which was the renovated products from Japan Airline. The Sky Suite 767 seat will be fully flatted bed but the seat has too narrow space to take a nap on these seats. The length of the seat will be fit for the foreigners but the narrow seat will be difficult to be relaxed. The relax position is Okay.

The meal service will start with the drink service as the other airlines. There were some selection of wines, liquors and soft drinks but nothing was special. The snack which was served with the first drink service was Dry Natto and some rice chips. The Natto will be familiar to Japanese passengers thus the foreigners may not like smell and texture of Natto.
The meal service had nothing special. I chose the Japanese style menu from the lists. The portion was normal as the other airline company. All meals were placed on one tray in the JAL short haul like Manila. The meal level of this short haul was as the economy class meal service which was served on Narita-Paris JAL flight twenty years ago. The main course was a little bit less warmed because all courses were served on the same tray.

Grilled Halibut with Yuzu miso flavour and Grilled chicken with miso sauce
Syokado box (for the Entre)
After dinner, I had some cognac from the list. The inflight service manager had brought a glass of cognac and told me in Japanese, "If we had some chocolate for you sir, (we will serve some piece of lovely chocolate)."
The cabin announce was too frequent to interupt the movie several times. Each announce was very long and superficial. The cabin crews had not pay attention for the passengers comforts.
All things were aimed at the average marks in the service for Japanese. All cabin crew have not been able to speak frequent English and had no ability to entertain and serve for the passengers. They had never served and just ridden the aircraft with passengers to place the drinks and meals, also in business class. I have not been able to find the Japanese Omotenashi service.

Yabu, Robinson mall, Malate, Manila, Philippines
Popular Taste from Japan in Manila
The fashionable dinning in Manila is visiting the Japanese Katsu restaurant. The famous Katsu restaurant was come to Manila from Japan. There is very popular and posh restaurant serving Katsu as Bairin, Saboten and Maisen. This Yabu has joined the group of Ippudo which serve Hakata style Ramen.
Out view
The interior of this restaurant was very
modern Japanese style. All things are very clean, well service and . The Katsu
restaurant in Japan was oily table, smell of lard oil, the menu board with oil
tan.
The Entrance view. the design was modern Japanese style.
The sesame in the mill bowl will be served on your seated. Milled sesame by you is combined with brown sauce to be eated with Katsu. You will mill sesami in the bowl with the milling stick. The favourite extent will be depend on each customer. I reccommend you to mill sesame mildly. Long time to mill sesami will occur bitter taste in the sauce.
The set of the Filet Katsu.
The Ton-katsu of Yabu was nice. It was not
so difference from that in Japan, nice texture of the pork meat, crispy
surface, comfortable oil and well matched sauce. The Katsu was served with
fresh cabbage. I prefer the cabbage with brown sauce sold as brodog sauce, you
have the choice from the shop selection of the dressing sauce.
Katsu
I hope I will try the Katsu-Don in this
restaurant chain.
The atmosphere. the staff were very nice service person.
